The good old red, white, and blue was proudly saluted when the students and staff at the Hamilton Primary School staged the return of the Patriotic/Flag Day assembly on the morning of Tuesday, June 17.
Each grade assembled in Hamilton’s multi-purpose room to sing patriotic songs to the delight of the staff and school district officials.
The patriotic staff member who coordinated this festive assembly was Rina Sklar, Hamilton’s energetic Music Teacher.
She was behind the effort to hold this lively affair that had been absent from Hamilton for years.
“I'm glad we were able to bring back the Patriotic/Flag Day assembly, something that has not occurred at Hamilton School since 2019,” Ms. Sklar reported. “ It was really heartwarming to see how excited the students were and how enthusiastically and beautifully they sang our Patriotic and Americana songs.”
Principal Tim Beaumont absorbed the spirited atmosphere.
"We are grateful to our Music teacher, Ms. Sklar, for organizing and leading our Flag Day Assembly this morning,’ Principal Beaumont said. “It was heartwarming to see our students enthusiastically singing together to celebrate the 248th anniversary of the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as our national flag. Our Hamilton Tigers truly ended the school year on a high note!"
Once the students finished their fine spring performances, Principal Beaumont and nine Hamilton staff members took center stage. They played the drums using Home Depot containers to conclude this enthusiastic assembly.
The assembly put an end to a successful school year.
“There is nothing like hearing approximately 500 children's voices singing beautifully together,’ Ms. Sklar said. “I think it was a lovely way to bring in the end of the school year as a Hamilton community.”
