Hillside stufents at Patrits game

A trip to the ballpark is Amelia Sapp’s form of saying thank you.

Ms. Sapp, a Special Services Teacher at the Hillside Intermediate School, and six of her colleagues brought 25 students to attend the Somerset Patriots game at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater on Wednesday, May 13.

The Patriots, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, played a day game against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Binghamton, the Double-A minor league team of the New York Mets, won the game, 5-4.

The students were from the Hillside Autistic program, who were joined at the baseball game by their student peer buddies.

“This is a thank you to everyone,” claimed Ms. Sapp, who said that she has been sponsoring this trip to the TD Bank Ballpark for four years. “Anyone who helped all year was invited to the game.”

Ms. Sapp’s fellow teachers, who also attended the game, were

Ms. Sapp will be heading up to the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School in the fall, when the building will expand and house students in Grades 6, 7, and 8.

But she will continue to show her gratitude.

“Yes, 100 per cent. I will continue to have a trip to the game even while I am at the Middle School.”
