The ideals of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. were put into action by Hillside Intermediate School students, parents, staff members, and members of the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District Board of Education on Monday, January 19.

The national holiday on Monday honoring Dr. King was spent by these devoted members of the Bridgewater-Raritan community, who volunteered at the local Pregnancy Aid Center in Raritan, the Mira Vie Senior Center in Bridgewater and the Agape House in Somerville.

According to Kiran Masud, Hillside’s 5th Grade, English Language Arts Teacher and the Somerset County Teacher of the Year for 2025-2026, the volunteers sorted donations, played Bingo, and made friendship bracelets.

“Following a successful community collection, their dedication and teamwork embodied Dr. King's vision of service, making a meaningful difference for families in need,” Ms. Masud said.
