Hillside Intermediate School is very pleased to announce our Governor’s Educator of the Year and Governor's Educational Services Professional of the Year for 2025-2026!
Caroline Swensen is our Governor’s Educator of the Year. Ms. Swensen, a Grade 5 Special Education teacher, has been part of the Hillside community for more than 17 years. She is an exceptional educator whose students consistently grow and thrive in her classroom.
She brings passion to her work and deep dedication to her students, creating an encouraging, supportive environment where students experience success, discover joy in learning, and develop lasting literacy skills. Beyond her classroom, Ms. Swensen is an important member of the Hillside faculty, leading the school newspaper and contributing to many schoolwide activities. We are truly fortunate to have her at Hillside School and proud to recognize her with this well-deserved honor.
Sandra Marques is Hillside’s Governor’s Educational Services Professional of the year, having worked as a Special Education Assistant for three years in the Hillside Autistic Program.
Mrs. Marques is a dedicated, compassionate and skilled educator whose unwavering commitment has made a profound difference in the lives of her students. Mrs. Marques works tirelessly to ensure that every student receives individualized care and support. She understands that success for students with autism is not only about academics but also about fostering independence, confidence and meaningful connections. Mrs. Marques’s compassion, professionalism, and tireless commitment to her students truly embody the best of her profession.
