The choir students at the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School show up and put on a spectacular show when they performed before their admiring audience.
And they deliver with passion and enjoyment as well.
The Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School presented their 2005 Spring Concert, titled “For the Beauty of the Earth,” on Wednesday evening, May 21.
The school’s auditorium was filled with an audience that was treated to five choir groups from the Middle School.
The 7th Grade Treble Choir opened the performance, followed by the 7th Grade Mixed Choir. The Select Treble Choir then sang, followed by the Cambiata Choir and then the 8th Grade Mixed Choir.
All of the students then capped the show with a finale
But before they were finished singing, they delivered a touching thank you to their devoted leader, Gabriele Hingelberg, the Middle School Choral Director.
The concert performance supported the beliefs of Ms. Hingelberg, who summed up the festive evening.
“The Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School Choir students have impressed me once again with their hard work and dedication to the program shown at the Spring Concert,’ Ms. Hingelberg stated. “These talented performers not only memorize all of the music for the concerts but also show up with a sense of pride to show off their hard work to their families and the community at large.”
She and the attentive crowd appreciated their finale.
“ I was especially moved by the last song,” Ms. Hingelberg revealed, “when all the students sang together. 'I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm free" with intent and great joy!”
That attentive audience included Matt McCarthy, the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District Supervisor for Arts Education.
“It was a beautiful performance! The students tackled diverse and challenging selections impressively. This is a testament to Ms. Hingelberg’s talent for empowering students to find their voices,” he said.
Mr. McCarthy pointed out how popular–and successful–the choral program is regarded at the Middle School.
“In many ways, Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School is the heart of our choral program. Our intermediate instructors spark a love of singing, and that passion truly begins to shine in the 7th and 8th grades,” Mr. McCarthy shared. “This year, we have more than 275 singers developing their voices under Ms. Hingelberg's guidance, and we have over 375 students enrolled for the coming year.”
Mr. McCarthy’s finale was impressive, too.
“It's wonderful to see our choral community growing. In a large district like ours, it can be surprisingly easy for students to feel isolated,” he said. “However, as all these young singers know, you are never less alone than when you are singing with others.”
