band concert

A school year that featured the splendid sounds of concerts—both vocal and instrumental—at Bridgewater-Raritan High School was capped on the night of Thursday, May 29.

It was on that evening when the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Bands presented their Spring Concert before an attentive and enjoyable audience that jammed into the high school auditorium.

The Spring Band Concert followed a spectacular Bridgewater-Raritan High School concert lineup in the spring, when the Choral Concert was sung on Tuesday, May 27, and the Orchestra Concert was played on Tuesday, May 20.

Matt McCarthy, the guiding force behind what is arguably the finest Visual and Performing Arts program in all of New Jersey in his role as the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District Supervisor of Arts Education, applauded the concerts throughout the entire year when he spoke about the band’s performance.

“The Bridgewater-Raritan High School Band program continues to be a cornerstone of our district’s commitment to excellence in arts education,” Mr. McCarthy claimed.

He shared more of his positive beliefs.

“Bridgewater-Raritan has such a tight-knit and vibrant arts community that really allows these young musicians to thrive. In each number, these bands showed how the whole is truly greater than the sum of its parts. You could hear the months of preparation and feel the genuine connection between the performers - it was really something special,” Mr. McCarthy said.

The Band Concert delivered a sound presentation from the three groups—the Concert Band, the Symphonic Band, and the Wind Ensemble.

The students played under the guidance of the high school’s two devoted Band Directors, Nick Mossa and Dr. Tom Bourgault. Also contributing during this productive concert was Student Teacher Franklin Hansen, who came through with a fine job conducting the Concert Band.

“The bands had a wonderful night and we're very proud to celebrate them and all of their hard work,” Mr. Mossa said.

Mr. Mossa added:

“We are especially proud of our graduating seniors who will be missed dearly!"

Mr. McCarthy credited the leadership for the success of the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Band program.

“A huge thank you to Dr. Bourgault, Mr. Mossa, and Student Teacher Franklin Hansen for their incredible dedication. Their commitment to developing complete musicians really shows. I’m proud to have such passionate educators at the conductor’s podium,” he said.

Mr. McCarthy concluded:

“What a spectacular concert!”
