The tireless efforts produced off stage can be as valuable as the acting on stage.

That role of the crucial work behind the curtain was recognized when Mia Hassouna, a junior at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, was honored at the 2024-2025 Montclair State University’s Theatre Foxy Awards on Monday, May 19.

Mia received the Outstanding Achievement By A Stage Manager For A Play Award.

She was nominated for Montclair State University’s Theatre Foxy Awards with fellow Bridgewater-Raritan High School Theatre Arts Company students who participated on the cast and crew for two 2024 productions—Radium Girls in December 2024, and High School Musical in May 2024.

Heather Diaforli-Day, the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Theatre Arts Director, strongly believed that Mia was a worthy choice to receive this elite award.

“Everyone in the Bridgewater-Raritan Theatre Arts program knows that this is a very well-deserved award,” Ms. Diaforli-Day said. “Mia is our beloved stage manager and works incredibly hard to keep the wheels turning during rehearsals in backstage during productions. I am thrilled that she has been recognized for all that she does.”

Mia will be performing her award-winning tasks on Friday, June 6, when when the June Theatre Showcase is presented in the high school auditorium at 7 p.m.
