Wearing two hats is something that Paige D’Aloisio is accustomed to.
Enjoying two different roles is something that this sophomore at Bridgewater-Raritan High School enjoys, too.
Paige is working as Assistant Stage Manager while the high school’s Thespian Honor Society Troupe No. 5154 and the Theatre Company are presenting two one-act plays during the June Theatre Showcase on Friday, June 6.
The high school auditorium will serve as the venue at 7 p.m. when the Thespian Honor Society produces Little Women, and then the Theatre Company performs Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon.
Paige is serving in her role off stage after she had been on stage in early April when she acted in the high school’s Spring Musical, Footloose.
“I like it and it is good to work and have a hands-on experience,” Paige shared about her position as Assistant Stage Manager during rehearsal on the afternoon of Friday, May 30. “But I also like being in the show when I played in Footloose. I like the different views from both jobs.”
She and her colleagues, who are on stage and off, are coordinating the entire production.
All under the watchful eye of Heather Diaforli-Day, the high school’s dedicated Director of Theatre Arts.
She explained the setup for the June Theatre Showcase.
“The students have been responsible for casting, directing, costumes, props, lighting, sets, sound, and publicity. I have witnessed an incredible amount of growth in all of the students involved, as they learn how to carry out each piece of the production,” Ms. Diaforli-Day said.
The Thespian Honor Society’s Little Women by Marisha Chamberlain is a play about the four young March sisters, under their guidance of their mother, struggle to keep their family going while their father is away in the Civil War.
The Theatre Company’s Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon by Dan Zolidis will feature two narrators who will attempt to recreate all 209 of the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm in a wild, ast-paced extravaganza.
Donations are encouraged but not required to attend the June Theatre Showcase on Friday, June 6.
