Update - COVID-19 - Day Almost 6: Getting Set - 3/22/2020

Members of the B-R Community,

I’m not sure if your experience has been different, but my inbox has been pretty full lately. This morning, separate from work, I received a number of emails from my own children’s teachers. The emails laid out clear plans for the instructional week to come, and once understood, it was incredibly reasonable (even fun)… and yet, I felt completely overwhelmed. So we sat as a family and mapped out our approach. After that, everything fell into place and we were much better prepared for the week.

Here in B-R, teachers and staff have been unbelievable, creating a dynamic distance learning platform filled with unending resources in no time at all. It was a true “Big Bang” event. The creativity and connectivity were so incredible that it is understandable if you feel overwhelmed. So, going into Week #2, remember what is most important: you. And remember that you are the one thing your teachers focus on most.

Learn, ask questions, connect.

Let this new reality remind us that school is not about grades or scores. School is about learning. Learning, not as an end, but as a means of making life richer. So, go into this week focused on learning. When it gets stressful, communicate with your teachers. Keep the feedback coming; we are listening.

And don’t forget: This is Spirit Week. We will celebrate distance learning and the B-R community. Share your pictures and videos with your teachers or classmates and if you are comfortable, post them on Twitter with the hashtag: #BRingonthespirit. All posts with this hashtag will be posted here on our Distance Learning page for everyone to enjoy.

We are encouraging everyone at home during this distance learning to participate: students, staff, families, alumni, parents of alumni, and members of the larger BRRSD community.
