2021-09-07-Community Message-Opening Update

Dear Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School Community,

I hope this finds you well and recovering from the effects of tropical storm Ida.  As mentioned in prior correspondence, three of our buildings sustained damage due to floodwaters, thus pushing the beginning of the school year to Monday, September 13th for ALL students.

Crim Primary School, Hamilton Primary School, and the Middle School have been affected by the recent storm and are in need of varying levels of remediation.   The Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District is currently in the process of mitigating the issues at these three schools in preparation for in-person learning and I, along with building principals, will keep the community up-to-date on the status of each building.

Unfortunately, the Middle School has shouldered the largest impact from the storm and will utilize a virtual format for a minimum of the first two weeks of the school year. A decision will be made related to the opening of Crim and Hamilton Schools no later than Thursday, September 9th at 4:00 PM.  Please be aware that remote learning to start the year at Crim and Hamilton Schools also remains a possibility.

All middle school students will receive additional correspondence from their building principal related to the specifics of remote learning over the next 24 hours.  I fully appreciate the impact this has on our school community as we were ready to begin in-person instruction for the 2021-2022 school year. Please understand that the safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority.

Best Regards,

Robert Beers
Superintendent of Schools
