2020-06-12 Update - COVID-19 - Day 54 - Celebrations

2020-06-12 Update - COVID-19 - Day 54 - Celebrations

Good evening,

I hope that everyone is staying safe.

Distance Learning continues for all through June 23, 2020, but our end-of-year celebrations have already begun. This week, members of our high school administration and staff, members of the BPD, RPD, and our local fire departments, and members of our Board, rode busses to the homes of each of our BRHS 2020 graduates. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. To experience some of what this event was like firsthand, see these reports, just a few that have documented the week-long celebration:

Please remember that our celebrations are not complete. Virtual graduations for our eighth graders (5:30 p.m., June 22) and our BRHS seniors (5:30 p.m., June 23) are still to come. We also need your help on June 23, 2020. At 1:00 p.m. we are having our Clap Out for all rising students. Please come outside and recognize our primary, intermediate, and middle school students as they transition. They will be outside, in their neighborhoods, to hear the noise we create. At 8:20 p.m. (20:20 military time) we will be doing the same for our high school seniors. Please join us as we raise our collective voices in support of our students.

As we prepare, now, for summer, if you have borrowed a district device for Distance Learning and your student is not leaving the district, you will be able to keep that device through the summer and into September. We hope this helps to keep your student connected over the summer under the constantly changing health restrictions. Also, the district will publish summer learning resources for everyone as we move into July. These are meant to help students stay connected to our curriculum as we finish Distance Learning. They are not required in any way.

Information specific to your student(s) will continue to come directly from the building principals. This includes academic and grading information, building close-out procedures, and the exchange of materials.

We hope you have a successful end to the school year and you are able to join us in our celebrations.

Reminders:

  • Pay careful attention to yourselves and your family members.  Resources for support can be found on our Distance Learning webpage.
